International Women’s Day Walk & Talk: Meaningful Conversations in the Rain

This year for International Women’s Day, we gathered for a small and intimate Walk & Talk event. The weather didn’t quite cooperate — light rain followed us along the path — but rather than dampening the experience, it seemed to slow everything down in the most beautiful way. Umbrellas came out, jackets zipped up, and the conversation began to flow.

There was something special about the size of the group. With fewer people, the space felt relaxed, personal, and open. It allowed everyone to share, reflect, and truly listen to one another. As we walked together, the rain created a calm and grounding atmosphere that made the conversations feel even more meaningful.

Our guiding reflection for the walk was a simple but powerful question:

“What do I want to receive in return for what I give?”

This question sparked thoughtful discussion about the ways women show up in their communities, families, workplaces, and friendships. Often women give generously — time, care, energy, support — without pausing to consider what they need in return to feel valued, nourished, and sustained.

As we walked and talked, we began to notice a pattern emerging. The values that women hope to receive are often the same ones they are already giving to others. From this conversation, a beautiful list of intentions began to form around the spirit of Women’s Wellbeing:

We give respect, and we hope to receive respect in return. We give safety, creating spaces where people feel supported and protected. We give recognition, acknowledging the efforts, strengths, and contributions of others. We give time, one of the most valuable things we have to offer. We give growth, encouraging each other to learn, evolve, and step into new possibilities. We give permission — permission to rest, to change, to be imperfect, and to be fully ourselves. We give a voice, uplifting stories, perspectives, and experiences that deserve to be heard. And we give celebration, recognising the small and big moments that make up our lives.

There were many more reflections shared along the path, each one highlighting the generosity, care, and strength that women bring into the world every day.

Despite the rainy weather, the event reminded us that connection doesn’t need perfect conditions. Sometimes all it takes is a small group of people, a meaningful question, and the willingness to walk side by side.

Thank you to everyone who came along and contributed to such thoughtful and heartfelt conversations. These moments of connection are what continue to shape and grow our community of Women’s Wellbeing.

We look forward to many more walks, conversations, and shared reflections in the future.
